Hey guys, it’s me, RockStar, slowly recovering from ACL on Sunday. I know, I only went on Sunday, and should be fine after only one day, but it was my first time, and I wasn’t quite prepared for the next morning. I would have to say my favorite show from Sunday was definitely the Flaming Lips. There were many features contributing to this, including the giant ball crowd surfing, the huge light screen behind them, and the interactive songs. A lot of bands go crowd surfing, but I personally have never seen a giant hamster ball rolling around on people’s hands in the middle of a song while he was STILL SINGING! The ball was amazing, and though I was not close enough to get to touch the ball myself, I could feel the excitement coming off of everyone up front. Another great feature of their show was the giant light screen. It was huge, colorful, and flashy, just constantly going behind them. I had seen it earlier, but I had only watched one other show at the AMD stage, so I don’t know if it was used for anyone else. The interactive songs were a great way to get the crowd involved. They started with a song that involved screaming, which Wayne Coyne, frontman for the group, all but forced us to join in on. Then they played “She Don’t Use Jelly”, which we could all sing along to. And who could forget the interactive song that we had to act out along with them as it was sung? However, I think my favorite part of the show was the way Coyne spoke to us the whole time, making sure we were interested. It was a great show.
Giant hamster ball? Awaome! You are so lucky.
