Solomon Burke born on March 21, 1940 the legend behind R&B classics such as “Cry to Me” and “Everybody Needs Someone To Love” died on early morning on Oct 10th at the age of 70.
He was known as one of the last soul legends. He won 2 awards, 1 was that he was accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 2001 and won his first Grammy in 2003.
He left 21 children, 90 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren who all supported his musical career. It all started when Burke started to sing at the age of 14 at a local church at the same time he earned his first hit called “Christmas Presents From Heaven.”
After Burke’s teenage career he tried to start his entertainment career again in 1961, he got Alamo Records to sponsor him. His last record was made for Atlantic in 1968, just because he stopped making records people still sang this song like John Belushi and Dan Akroyd who sang “Everybody Needs Someone to Love” in the Blues Brothers in 1980. Patrick Swayze also sang his song, “Cry to Me” to Jennifer Grey in “Dirty Dancing” in 1987.
