See Ya
By: Care Bears

Well looks like this is the last blog I am going to write. I won’t ever have to do those dreadful things again (no offense Mrs. Young). I liked the idea of a blog but it wasted so much time writing those 200 words every Tuesday. I’m sorry I never wrote about anything very interesting.
Our group Slap in the face was the best group ever, we had Matthew who was always moving around, jumping everywhere, and he was really crazy so of course we never got bored with him; he got his work done even though  it took  you a while. Charles, “Eric” he was like our own radio, he was always singing and making ridiculous raps. He was our bro he always distracted us, but without him Ezine would not be the same, but despite that we loved him in a bro way (he even wrote a song on his blog). Christian, I like to call Christian: Mama Christian. He always made us stay on track, and made sure we were always done on time. He was sometimes a pain in the @$$ but again without him our magazine would fail.
So I think that the moral of our Ezine experience is to always be in a fun group, and to not always be in a smart group. This was the best Ezine semester EVER.

GOOD BYE

Hey guys, it’s the one and only Bob the Builder,

This will be my final blog I’m signing off…….. FOREVER! It was fun to have a blog even though nobody really cared about it and none of my blogs were about Taylor Swift or 5 Finger Death Punch. Slap in the Face has been a lot of fun even though I consider us a group of slackers. Even though we didn’t always work our hardest, we finished what we had to (sort of).
I’m not exactly sure what else to add other that it was dreadful at times but overall it was just a lot of fun. I wrote you guys a song… well I kind of just typed it without thinking about it.

Hello our name is slap in the face.
We are 4 guys.
Who dig music a lot.
Who are going to grow up living alone in one bed room apartments.
(That was a really long line)
Unfortunately none of this rhymes
The song is really bad
Too bad you couldn’t hear me sing it
Axel is blonde, Christian is not
Matt is Matt
We all had fun
Diss our magazine
I wish you would not
(That was a pretty lame rhyme)
Because……..
You will get slapped in the face.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Slap Logo. Help?

Hey Guys It’s RockStar again, with his first blog post in a few weeks… where has the time gone?

So guess which magazine just sent out the proofs for its rough copy of its Fall 2010 Issue? Well, a lot of magazines actually. But most importantly, Slap In The Face did! Yes, there are still many, many edits to make, but our first cut is being printed. Our official copy should be here soon, so we can look over it and make sure there is nothing that poses too much of a problem for the final print. So basically we should have a working copy of our magazine out soon.  Our logo is shown below, but we have a debate going. We have two options, and we want you guys to help us decide which one works better.

Either:

SLAP

Or:

SLAP

So please guys if you see this post and have an intelligent opinion on the subject, please comment on this post! We need help deciding, because we are totally split down the middle about which is better. Thanks for all of the help I know you guys are just waiting to give!

Have you heard the song “(I’ve Had) The time of my Life”? This song was a major hit in the award winning movie “Dirty Dancing”. This song was sung by Bill medley and Jennifer Warnes. It was written by Franke Previte. When Franke Previte wrote this song he was not popular and he did not have a lot of money. After writing this story he became a overnight success he had hit the sweet spot. He sold 50 million copies of that song and won Oscars in Hollywood. In the movie this song starts when Jennifer gray jumps in to Patrick Swayze. This song has many times been in the top 100 songs and has had a few remix made out of. Franke is not a spoiled celebrity he lives a good life in New Jersey with his family and teaches young song writes to do a better job. Some say that Franke needs to give the song rights to the singers. They say that he does not deserve all the money he got for the little he did. I disagree he still did a lot and the singers are probably already rich. This is one of the best songs ever.

Nirvana(:

Hey guys it’s the one and only Bob the Builder,

Guess what! They’re making a new Nirvana exhibit! The most complete Nirvana exhibit ever! In the history of awesomeness! There will be the first guitar smashed on stage by Kurt Cobain and many other rare things. Pictures from when the band itself was young to shirts worn in photo shots. I think it’s about time they did something like this for Nirvana. I mean come one, its Nirvana! Why haven’t they made this exhibit earlier and why cant the exhibit is there permanently? It should be there for the rest of time! All successful bands should be given the honor of having their own exhibit; there is just no other way to show more gratitude for the music they have made for us. The exhibit itself even got a paper with the hand written lyrics of Kurt Cobain himself. There is no way that it can get better. I mean come on, the actual paper that he wrote his music on! Kurt Cobain was in the presence of that paper. Oh what a lucky paper. This exhibit should be a big hit and a big deal to all Nirvana lovers.

King of Pop comes back alive

By: Care Bears

Have you ever dreamed of doing the moonwalk or dancing like Michael Jackson? Well now you can, with Michael Jackson himself showing you how to dance and sing to all of his songs. Now you can do all this you can sing through a microphone or you can dance using a remote. The companies that are selling this new game are the Nintendo Wii, the Nintendo DS, and the Sony’s PSP. All these brands will later release a board for the player to dance on. There are a few accessories that you can buy with the game one is the Special white glove that Michael Jackson wears on his hand. One of the reasons that families want this is because they want to use the glove for when they are playing with the whole family. The glove will symbolize the leading champion. This game will be a good family night game or a nice. The producer of the game says that he will be shocked if this game is not one of the top selling games. The past game of this company was called just dance and that game had also received a huge success and they are hoping for the same results for their new game.

What's is Wrong with him?

Hey guys Matt, what’s up,
Hey you guys know Travie McCoy well he got arrested along with an accomplice on Wednesday, and guess what for graffiti on the Berlin Wall. Don’t worry you fans out there he was released on bail. Surprisingly he continued to Amsterdam to complete his European tour.

Wow can you believe the police they actually let him go on bail, I think they should have put him on community service or something. I mean you can’t just let someone vandalize a previous landmark and get away with it I mean if he had cleaned it up himself this wouldn’t tick me off that much but he didn’t, but then again he is a celebrity and as you all know the government gives them “special privileges” which totally ticks me off just what makes him so important he is a normal human being with normal responsibility. Maybe Travie bribed the Judge I know that’s a bad thing to say but I mean really. Just let me know what you think and if you think that he deserved what he got or should have got something else. And also do you think if celebrities do get “special rights”. Thanks for reading.

Lil' Wayne's Success: Even in Prison He's Number 1

Hey guys it’s RockStar again.

Did you guys know it has been 15 years since a recording artist has gotten a number 1 album on the Billboard 200 while in prison?  This was broken when Lil’ Wayne released his album ‘I Am Not a Human Being’, which was released on September 27th, which, FYI, his birthday, and has released more than 323,000 copies so far.  It is hardly surprising that he would have a number 1 album while in police custody, his multiple arrests meeting his highly successful music career would make it only a matter of time before this would happen, but this is the first time he has actually gone to jail for his offenses, the others were mainly probations.  The person who got their album hit number 1 while in jail you ask? Why none other than Tupac Shakur, who released his hit album ‘Me Against the World’ while incarcerated on March 14th, 1995.  Tupac happened to be the first and only recording artist to have a number 1 album released while imprisoned, until September 27th, when Lil’ Wayne released his album, stealing the title of most recent, and eliminating the title of only.

Michael Jackson the Richest Dead Celebrity?!

Hey Guys Matt Here,
Michael Jackson now known as one of the richest dead celebrities ever, a year right after the death of Michael Jackson his estate raked in $275 million, which then catapulted Michael to the top of the Forbes’ 10th annual Top- Earning Dead Celebrities list. His last movie “This Is It” increased the value of his estate. Michael’ estate earned 4 times more than Elvis Presley’s’.

Not only has Michael made more money than all the other dead celebrities last year, but he also out-earned every person except for Oprah Winfrey on the Forbes Celebrity 100, a list of the highest earning celebrities. Michael also brought in more than the year's highest-grossing music acts, U2 and AC/DC, put together.
When I read this I was really shocked to think that his estate is worth $275 million. If you want to know anything more about this topic just comment or read the article. Just click here.

10. "Charleston, SC 1966," Darius Rucker

The reasons I don’t like the album and the songs of Taylor swift is because they are always the same. It is always some sort of country with an acoustic guitar and the same beat and rhythm. I like most of these songs because they are some sort of pop and rap. One of these albums is getting a huge success for example look at the album “I am not a human being” Lil Wayne. This album has not been released but it is already a major hit. Some of these I have not heard about but if there in the top ten I will hear about them soon.
Hey There Guys, RockStar here with his fourth blog post.

We are less than 1 month away from the official re-release of NIN’s debut album, Pretty Hate Machine.  For those of you who don’t know, this album has quite a bit of history.  Pretty Hate Machine was Nine Inch Nails’ first album, released originally in October of 1989 through TVT records.  Until 1997, the album thrived, with many of the songs becoming instant hits.  Then, due to a falling out between Trent Reznor and TVT records, the album fell out of print.  The album remained out of print until 2005, when Rykodisc remastered and re-released it.  Now, on November 22 2010, Pretty Hate Machine will be released again through Bicycle Music Group.  The new version will include a bonus track, the Queen cover of the song “Sin”, and will have new cover art by Rob Sheridan, shown below.

Bicycle Music Group obtained the rights to the album on March 29th this year, and the official announcement of the re-release was on October 22, just a few days ago. This was announced on the NIN website, which I have linked for you guys here.  It’s a great way to keep up with the latest NIN news.

Hey there its the one and only Bob the Builder

Reggae Legend Gregory Isaacs is dead. I don’t know about you guys but reggae puts me in a great mood and really brings me up. It’s depressing that this happened because all he did was make people happy. He will be missed by not only by me but people all over the world. He has released an amazing estimated 500 albums in Jamaica. He was about to become a world wide star but was sentenced to 6 months in Jamaican prison for firearm charges. He also had a persistent drug addiction which not only affected him while he had his cancer, made him lose all of his teeth but also risked losing his legendary voice. his final album  “Brand New Me” was released in 2008.This story made me think of how depressing it is when a famous artists pass, or just the way it takes losing somebody that brings a lot of people together. Which brings me to my question on the week (cheesy I know but answer it anyway) if you could bring back an artist for a day, who would it be?

The Iphone Band
By: Care Bears

Have you heard of the Brooklyn band Atomic Tom? Well they have just finished a music video for their new song called “Take me out”. This music video this music video has had two million hits. The music video features the band in a subway performing only with Iphones. singer Luke White uses one Iphone for the microphone, guitarist Eric Espiritu ,bassist Phillip Galitzine and drummer Tobias Smith all use Iphones for recreating the song. This video was the idea of guitarist Eric Espiritu brother Benjamin. Benjamin is going into film class and he helped his brother with the idea of filming this amazing video. This video has been such a huge success that this song is when of the top selling songs in iTunes. The band has just one thing to worry about. Is everybody going to know them as the “Iphone Band”? Said Eric Espiritu. I think that this band is a fail because they are not good enough to create a good song and the only way for them to get a success is by doing an awesome music video. But I still give them credit for coming up with this amazing idea. The internet for this band has given them a bigger success then if they went to gigs or concerts or public.

Wrong name. HA HA

Hey it’s Matt guys,

Recently the Black Keys won the award for their Breakthrough video Tighten Up. When they received the award it said Black Eyed Peas. They told everyone about this mix up. MTV then apologized for their printing error.
The Black Keys were then thanked for their patients and their understanding in this situation by MTV.

Full article and Picture are both found on this link here

This to me was a terrible mix up I think that Black Keys should have sued MTV for this. I know that’s a little harsh but understand this if you worked hard to make something I think you should receive credit properly. I might have never had this happen to me but I think that we have all won awards, and I don’t think that you would enjoy getting an award that had the wrong name on it.  If there is more on this you would like to know on this click the link or ask if your just that lazy ( even though it would actually be more work for you to ask me.)

not again...........

Hey there is the one and only Bob the Builder,

I’ve just read the sad news about T.I’s recent misstep, he was recently caught and charged with drugs and once again… back to jail. You would think he would have quit with it all after he got out of jail not to long ago. After serving nearly a year in prison he is sentenced to another 11. He was on a 3 year probation to begin with, after being free for 8 months he slipped up and got arrested. This isn’t very good considering he was in the middle of creating another album. Personally I think he is a good artist and doesn’t need all that he’s doing to be successful. It seems as if he’s getting tired of being in and out of prison (who wouldn’t be?) so I strongly believe this will be the last time anything like this happens. Artists going in and out of jail aren’t setting a very good example for kids and should consider the type of example they set. Lets hope this is the last time this happens so we can once again enjoy not only his music but music overall.

there is an article about it, just follow the link!!

Flaming Lips- ACL 2010

Hey guys, it’s me, RockStar, slowly recovering from ACL on Sunday.  I know, I only went on Sunday, and should be fine after only one day, but it was my first time, and I wasn’t quite prepared for the next morning.  I would have to say my favorite show from Sunday was definitely the Flaming Lips. There were many features contributing to this, including the giant ball crowd surfing, the huge light screen behind them, and the interactive songs.  A lot of bands go crowd surfing, but I personally have never seen a giant hamster ball rolling around on people’s hands in the middle of a song while he was STILL SINGING!  The ball was amazing, and though I was not close enough to get to touch the ball myself, I could feel the excitement coming off of everyone up front.  Another great feature of their show was the giant light screen. It was huge, colorful, and flashy, just constantly going behind them.  I had seen it earlier, but I had only watched one other show at the AMD stage, so I don’t know if it was used for anyone else.  The interactive songs were a great way to get the crowd involved.  They started with a song that involved screaming, which Wayne Coyne, frontman for the group, all but forced us to join in on. Then they played “She Don’t Use Jelly”, which we could all sing along to.  And who could forget the interactive song that we had to act out along with them as it was sung?  However, I think my favorite part of the show was the way Coyne spoke to us the whole time, making sure we were interested.  It was a great show.

Nashville Destruction
By: Care Bears
The flood that had happened in May in the city of music (Nashville) had ruined many instrument, houses, and lives. The guitars in Nashville had been placed in a big facility, but all the instruments had drowned by the horrible flood that occurred. Therefore since Nashville is the city of music Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and Vince Gill, and a lot of other Nashville musicians decided to do something for the flood. They donated Guitars, drums, and many other musical instruments. The instruments donated by the singers will be auctioned off online, and the music that is gained in the auction will be given to Nashville to buy new instruments, money will also be given to the Nashville fire and rescue departments. The guitars that have been damaged are going to be hard to get them back because they are different than other guitars some of the guitars have been dating from 1942. Keith urban has had a few guitars ruined in the flood and he has had a hard time recovering from the lost of his “babies”. Everybody who was lost an instrument in the flood is very devastated, but on the good side Keith is realizing an album because of the flood called “Get Closer” this album will about to get close to get to your guitars and instruments and take care of them.

Soloman Burkes Died!

Hey guys it’s me Matt with some sad news,

Solomon Burke born on March 21, 1940 the legend behind R&B classics such as “Cry to Me” and “Everybody Needs Someone To Love” died on early morning on Oct 10th at the age of 70.
He was known as one of the last soul legends. He won 2 awards, 1 was that he was accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 2001 and won his first Grammy in 2003.
He left 21 children, 90 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren who all supported his musical career. It all started when Burke started to sing at the age of 14 at a local church at the same time he earned his first hit called “Christmas Presents From Heaven.”
After Burke’s teenage career he tried to start his entertainment career again in 1961, he got Alamo Records to sponsor him. His last record was made for Atlantic in 1968, just because he stopped making records people still sang this song like John Belushi and Dan Akroyd who sang “Everybody Needs Someone to Love” in the Blues Brothers in 1980. Patrick Swayze also sang his song, “Cry to Me” to Jennifer Grey in “Dirty Dancing” in 1987.

GASP! "oh my ACL"

Hi it’s the one and only Bob the Builder once again,

So like many people I spent my weekend at ACL (Austin City Limits). While I was there, there were some bands that I had never heard of so I decided to go and see them. Most of them were actually amazingly good bands, I recommend anyone with some type of love for rock or folk music. My favorite show was either Cage the Elephant or Muse (I heard many great things about The Flaming Lips but sadly didn’t see them). While Cage the Elephant didn’t have the advantage of an amazing light show like Muse but with an excited crowd any show is good. There were multiple crowd surfs, the lead singer came down into the audience for crowd surfs as well, and the audience was involved from start to finish. If you can’t handle being pushed or shoved this show wasn’t for you, but IF you don’t mind you would of LOVED IT. Now onto the Muse show, apart from the always amazing band the were just wow. The spinning green lasers with a smoke affect and constantly changing affects throughout the show made it definitely worth seeing. It was my first time attending ACL and I’m definitely doing next year.

The Eagles at ACL

Hey everybody, RockStar here
You guys all psyched for ACL fest 2010? Starts Friday!  Unfortunately I only have a Sunday ticket, got some marching band stuff to do on Friday and Saturday.  Kinda pissed I don’t get to see Muse on Saturday, but at least I get to catch the Eagles on Sunday.  Speaking of the Eagles, the Austin American Statesman recently did an interview with Don Henley, drummer, songwriter, and singer for the Eagles.  Here is the link to the interview.

In this interview, Henley answered questions about his musical influences, and why he feels that the Eagles were, and still are so successful in regards to their music.  In addition to questions about his music and his musical experience, Henley was also asked many questions about his own political views, such as how he feels the Obama administration is doing in regards to clean energy initiatives, and other important policies.  Of course, there were a few questions about the upcoming ACL fest for the Eagles, which is of course, on everyone’s minds right now.  I personally can’t wait to see them live on Sunday.  I hope I manage to get a good spot to see them.  I hope most of you can make it out there for the Sunday show.
Whats it gonna be called?
By: Care Bears

Do you remember the Movie Mama Mia and the movie Across the Universe? Those two movies were fictional movies with the top hits of ABBA, and the Beatles. Well an old band, which everybody thought would have been forgotten by now is about to have their own movie exactly like Mama Mia, and Across the Universe. The director of this upcoming movie is Screenwriter Suzannah Grant. The producers are Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and the drummer of this band has also decided to produce. The band that is about to have a new movie made about their songs is an old band, they have made huge success, and their songs are constantly played in restaurants, parties, etc… this is the moment you have been waiting for. The movie that you are dying to hear about is about the......... THE BEACH BOYS. Fox has won the rights through a “Bidding War”; this movie is planed to come out in 2011. There have been a few Biographies on this group, but they were all on TV, and they were all produced by John Stamos. A cool thing about this movie is that it will be released on the beach boy’s 50th anniversary. It is basically a big present for the beach boy’s anniversary. I think that this movie will be a great idea.

Lil' Wayne all alone?!?!

Hi its the one and only Bob the Builder,
So have you guys heard? Lil’ Wayne going to solitary confinement for listening to music in prison. Wow. I think he was still abiding to the prisons rules, he was just listening to beats. I mean, don’t most rappers come out with an album after getting out of jail? Personally I don’t think this is very fair, its just music. Yes, in a way that defeats the purpose of being in jail, but cut him some slack, music is basically who he is. As an artist he can greatly benefit from the 23 hours of “alone time”, it will be an opportunity to come up with new song ideas and “rhymes” all he has to do when he gets out is make the beats. As one of the biggest names in the music business he has to constantly work to keep it that way, many artists are biting at his heels and had this major opportunity to catch up to him. Of course, he will have his giant mob of fans waiting for him at the prison doors. He will be released on November 4th and probably has thousands, maybe even millions of ideas planned. I cant lie, I’m kinda excited, cant wait what him and Drake are going to do when he’s released, sure its gunna be AWESOME.
